Cursillo is only three days long, but it lasts a lifetime!
WHO?
Cursillo (pronounced Kur-see-yo) is intended for Presbyterians whose faith in God and commitment to Jesus Christ leads them to seek continued spiritual growth. Anyone who is a member of or has an affiliation with a Presbyterian Church may participate in Arkansas Presbyterian Cursillo (ARPC).
Cursillo is not designed as a conversion experience. Its focus is on members of the Presbyterian Church who are seeking continued growth in their faith and its application to their daily lives.
WHAT?
Presbyterian Cursillo is a purposefully designed program for supporting individual faith renewal and growth. Cursillo means a short course in living the Christian life and is designed to provide a framework for living as Christians in the local church and the world. It is a three-day weekend retreat filled with short talks, music, fellowship, small group discussions and many pleasant surprises. But there is so much more.
Perhaps you have heard of Walk to Emmaus, Tres Dias, or Episcopalian Cursillo Weekends. These Weekends all provide similar experiences. Arkansas Presbyterian Cursillo is simply the Presbyterian version, supported by the Arkansas Presbyterian lay community. Weekends are led by lay men and women, with the participation and spiritual guidance of ordained Presbyterian ministers. The Weekend’s activities provide an opportunity for the participants to discover a new and exciting relationship with Christ and to encourage them to live this relationship in their home, at work, and in their church.
WHY?
The Cursillo experience is not just about worshipping on Sunday mornings. It is about living the Christian life every day, no matter where you are. It is not just about a Weekend — it is an experience that is intended to last a lifetime. After attending a Cursillo Weekend, participants are encouraged to join small Renewal Groups to maintain enthusiasm, affirm one another’s faith journey, share life experiences, and to encourage each other as they live the Christian life.
Reformation and renewal in Christ are indispensable to our participation in the unfolding and expansion of God’s Kingdom. Presbyterian Cursillo is a vital and exciting resource for renewal, and Presbyterian men and women are encouraged to participate, no matter where they are in their faith journey.
